Figurativeartist Karl Schwartz, was born in New York City, and began in the 1950s tostudy from the nude model at The Art Students' League, Pratt Institute, and theCooper Union. At 17 years-old he sold drawings at the Washington SquareOutdoor Art Exhibits resulting in his being published in Dance Magazineat 18. He is a veteran modernist knownfor his figural twisted wire sculptures.
Working with topinterior designers and decorators, his sculptures and paintings have soldnationally from Canada to Mexico and from New York to California and Hawaii.
Influenced byPicasso and Calder, his twisted steel wire commissions have included works forTiffany and Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Through hisagents, sculptures have sold to Europe and the Mideast. His drawings arein the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, in New York.
Write-ups havebeen in the New York Post, Daily Mirror, Interior Design Magazine, DisplayWorld, Travel & Leisure, and Women's Wear Daily.
He has hadnumerous exhibitions, including The University of Florida. In recent years he'slived and worked in Gainesville, Florida. *
