Bobby Burg (Utica, NY 1958-)

Bobby Burg grew up in Utica, New York, receiving a degree in Psychology and Fine Arts.  His favorite mediums as an artist are acrylics and watercolor, which lend themselves to his fine, intricate technique.  He works mainly with ship and marine subjects, as well as vintage automobiles with both surrealism and realism viewpoints.

He is the son of an artist who built intricate ship models from scratch using original blueprints. “This led to a special awareness whenever I came across a marine painting in either books, magazines, or in galleries.  Wanting to capture the freedom and power of these great ships sparked my desire to go back in history and study what life must have been like on a Clipper ship and put it on canvas”

His love of old cars fueled his passion to paint them. “Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, I developed a deep fascination for muscle cars.  The car that ignited or planted the seed for me was the 1969 Plymouth GTX.  In my neighborhood I was exposed to the GTO’s, 4-4-2’s and various mustangs, yet the mysterious black on black GTX captured my imagination.  I spent my allowance purchasing a model that I faithfully painted to match the Plymouth.  In my late teens I was able to purchase a 1971 Roadrunner, bright red, 440 automatic with Crager Mags and wide back tires.  I was in heaven!”  He continues his passions in his art
